Hugh is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Planner. He is a Director of McIntyre Flannery Tait Ltd, a CA firm that is committed to ensuring that they establish and retain their place as preferred suppliers of Business Advice in the Central Otago area.

He has a direct involvement in other companies involved in the financial services and local tourism sectors and over the years has been active in the community contributing to school committees, sporting clubs and other activities involved in the arts

Hugh commenced public practice as a partner in a national firm in 1981. In search of a way to provide more practical and relevant advice to clients he set up his own practice in 1994 and since then has been active in encouraging clients to develop and grow their business through providing Business Coaching services which complements the normal compliance services.

Over the past 15 years he has developed an exceptional and loyal team which includes three other Chartered Accountants.

While the business provides the full range of services, associated with a Chartered Accountant practice, Hugh’s particular passion as he enters his twilight years are in Business Coaching, Succession Planning and Estate Planning. Hugh is active in the community being involved in a number of Charitable Trusts involved in the education and development of youth and is a Rotarian. Hugh has also had a significant involvement in the administration of a number of sporting clubs over the years. He is at present chair of the Central Otago Advisory Committee to the Otago Chamber of Commerce.

Outside of the practice he is a social golfer, enjoys bike riding, especially when it is overseas and is an avid follower of most sports on the TV. Hugh is an active Rotarian, and a past President of the Alexandra Club.
