Bob Johnston and Bruce Blackman, trading as Central Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Ltd, have been with MFT “Since we started business which was many many moons ago wasn’t it? 11 or 12 years ago.”
So what got them involved with MFT in the first place?
“We had a look around and we just felt that Hugh was a very nice fellow and would be good to deal with. And he was, and we have been dealing with him ever since. That was in 1996 and have found him very good. His staff are very good”.
During that time the company has grown and is now a successful and well established business. Staff numbers have grown from “Three or four, now we have 12 or 14"
As is common, the company faced issues as it grew – “We had lots of growing pains… and it was pretty tough, very hard in those years. But we came out the other side and we’re still here”
Now Bob and Bruce find themselves at a point that many businesses in NZ will be in the near future, looking at future owners. As Bob puts it, he is “Heading out the door…. yes and we have been working with Hugh to get that organised as well. Bruce and I have done a lot of work up until now and at the end of last year Bruce went and spent some time with Hugh getting organised”.
Bob and Bruce have been more than happy to leave the nuts and bolts of tax and compliance to MFT. “We don’t worry too much about it because we leave it over to you. And that’s really what it is… I don’t get concerned about the tax or anything that you people do for us because we leave it to you people and if it’s not right well then all hells going to break loose…and it hasn’t broken loose yet…. And so that’s good. We find the Company they’re very good to deal with.”
